After nearly 7 hours it finally presented me with a list of 18 updates which I installed. Reply Treb Dec 16, 2016 @ 23:08:45 LOL! The svchost.exe netsvcs is running my cpu at 50% or higher when idle. When I stopped the windows update service using Windows Task Manager CPU usage then went down to under 10% even with other applications running. check over here

When I right click on a service it only gives me:"End process""End process tree""Debug" (greyed out)"Set priority>"Do I have to do some b. My computer was using 25% of its CPU from this thing and found that the Windows Update service (wuauserv) was the main cause of it!
Install the Security Update KB2993651 according your OS version. I then ran the Windows Update troubleshooting tool:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-the-Windows-Update-troubleshooter That seemed to clear the problem temporarily. Goes to Windows Support and read the Bullitins and the registry hacks should help and if its a HP get rid of the HP Center? Like slovakia said, hope Microsoft gets a clue and fixes it soon. Aelookupsvc High Cpu It seems to have worked (along with the other stuff you mention first). WSUS built an updater for me that brought my PC up to date.
Don't forget to reset Windows Update properties to "Automatic Updates" before you restart if you changed them previously.
I've actually seen this issue with svchost more often be legitimate tasks than malware. If you double-click on one the service names, you'll see their cryptic name also, so that's how you can match them up. rampurJul 12, 2016, 8:16 PM @curt504 Sorry to reply late.....
