Like others here, I don't think it's a port problem. The above posters are correct that it has to do with NAT. Also, just so you know, the reason you may not get the "maximum" number reported from speedtest.net is a number of reasons. This can also significantly increase average latency to the servers, but as long as it doesn't go up into the hundreds of milliseconds it should be an improvement. Do what chipmonkey did.
