It's available for Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista. I don't think that is the case here. When I ran XP, I could go in and repair or replace all of the startup files. Or am I missing something in that the Please Wait... looks like a Windows message? Learn More. I let Vista try to repair itself a few times, and tried the most recent restore point. If i try to start windows normaly then nothing happens, it appears to be loading and then nothing, i've left it for a while and the screen just stays blank.

Now because it is on the Gateway screen it seems like it would have to be a hardware situation since Windows hasn't started yet.
Have you tried booting with that disk from your other computer? Do you have the laptop set to boot from the CD as first boot choice.
