The forks aren't too hard to replace, but ideally what you'll want to do is have something called "back cutting" done on the replacement gears, and even the most mechanically inclined I hit the shifter really hard with my toes and it would not go..

That might depend on how long the tranny had the wrong oil in it. Also, check to make sure the shifter shaft the linkage attaches to moves freely. No solicitation. Perhaps my bearing or lifter pin is messed up (even though it doesn't look like it) and that was the whole problem. MANUAL shifting does work however. Motorcycle grade oil is actaully mineral oil so it works with wet clutches.
